The Oregon Forest Literacy Program includes a forest education conceptual framework and a scope and sequence, which together offer educators guidance for developing curricula and classroom lessons related to forests. It includes examples of service-learning projects that connect to Oregon forests. Oregon Forests.org a project of Oregon Forest Resources Institute is an interactive website with videos, maps, tree guides, and a K-12 learning library. Dedicated to public understanding of forest stewardship to meet the social, environmental and economic needs of both present and future generations. http://oregonforests.org/

Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI) was created by the Oregon Legislature in 1991 to improve public understanding of the state’s forest resources. http://www.forestresourceinstitute.com

Project Learning Tree (PLT) is a national natural resources curriculum, teaching critical thinking and is offered in Oregon through Oregon State University.  PLT brings thought-provoking, field-tested activities to educators.  The workshops explore the role of trees and forests in our lives.” http://www.cof.orst.edu/cof/extended/ofep/

Forest Education Initiative (FEI) brings an understanding and appreciation – particularly of the environmental, social, and economic potential of trees, woodlands and forest – to young people. The Idaho Forest Products Commission (IFPC) was created in 1992 by an act of the Idaho Legislature. The purpose of the Commission is to “promote the economic and environmental welfare of the state by providing a means for the collection and dissemination of information regarding the management of the state’s public and private forest lands and the forest products industry.” IFPC provides a variety of statewide communications activities, educational programs and informational materials to educate specific audiences such as decision makers, educators and students as well as the general public about the need for proper forest management. http://www.idahoforests.org/teach1.htm

Family Forestry Expo is an annual, week long forest use education and forest management education program, sponsored and created by a diversified group of organizations including: local service groups, resource users, professional societies, government agencies, conservation groups, forest industry, local businesses, and interested individuals.
